With the qualifying candidate deadline expiring on Thursday, the ballots are set for county elections in Fentress, Pickett, and Van Buren County.
In Fentress County, Jacob Rosenbaum, Larry Cooper, and Robert Cooper will run for county executive. Hunter Fowler, Rodney Insco Sr., and Gary “Goose” Ledbetter will run for Sheriff.
A total of 17 candidates will run for county commission seats. Districts one through five have seats available. The county school board will feature two candidates for districts two through five.
Amanda Hicks will run uncontested for county clerk. Patricia Slaven will run for register of deeds. Angie Sweet will run uncontested for trustee. Ryan Reed will run uncontested for road superintendent, while Gina Mullinix will run uncontested for circuit court clerk.
In Van Buren County, four candidates- Barry Austin, Cale Crain, David Chandler, and Jessica Grissom- have qualified to run for County Executive. Multiple candidates are also seeking seats on the County Commission across Districts One through Five, with District Four drawing five contenders: Tabitha Denney, Joey Grissom, Shannon Mooneyham, Seth Pettit, and Leo Sochocki.
Three candidates- Davey Shockley, Tyler Walling, and Delaine Moore- are running for the District Four School Board seat. Several offices will be uncontested, including Randy Oakes for Road Superintendent, Beth Simmons for Trustee, Lavetta Simmons for Circuit Court Clerk, and Lisa Rigsby for County Clerk.
In Pickett County, Stephen Bilbrey will run unopposed for County Executive, and Dana Dowdy is uncontested in the Sheriff’s race. According to the Pickett County Elections Office, 16 candidates have qualified for County Commission seats in Districts One through Four.
Jennifer Anderson, David Dowdy, and Chris Pryor are running for County Trustee, while Aimee Clayborn and Letha McCurdy will compete for Register of Deeds. Jimmy Cope is uncontested for Road Superintendent. Travis Parrott and John Reagan are unopposed in the School Board races for Districts Three and Four, respectively. Danny Huddleston will run uncontested for Circuit Court Clerk, and Robert Lee is unopposed for County Clerk.
Candidates for city elections will have until March 10, at noon, to qualify.
