Restrooms To Be Constructed At White Co. Tennis Courts

White County and White County Schools are partnering to build a restroom facility near the White County High School Tennis Courts.

Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said though the tennis courts are on the high school’s campus, they are owned by the county. Dronebarger said currently, there are no restroom facilities close to the courts.

“We have a need for some better restroom facilities, and we were able to work with our county government to secure some grant funding,” Dronebarger said. “And we are gonna kick in a little bit of labor and funding from the school side of things and construct some better restroom facilities that will be accessible for everyone who is using the outdoor tennis courts.”

Dronebarger said the closest restroom facilities are by the softball fields. Dronebarger said the school system built a softball hitting facility in the same location with the idea that restrooms would be constructed as well.

“The opportunity came sooner than we thought, and so we are gonna be able to hook into that existing plumbing in that softball hitting facility,” Dronebarger said. “Make use of those facilities, that infrastructure, and get those restrooms built.”

Dronearger said the project is in the early construction phases. Dronebarger said the restrooms will be a small facility and should not impact surrounding facilities.

“It’ll be in an area that won’t affect the softball hitting facility, which that season is already getting underway, and they hope to be able to do work around tennis in there as they get started in the spring with practice,” Dronebarger said. “So we just hope that it’ll be an area that will be out of limits for some time, but it won’t impact any practices or any trainings that are going on.”

Dronebarger said the grant the county received was an estimated $25,000.
