Baxter Approves Changes, Updates To Municipal Code

The Baxter Board of Mayor and Aldermen passed measures Thursday night to modernize its municipal codes.

City Recorder Sharon Carlisle said the need has existed to bring city regulations up to current standards. The board addressed a new ordinance designed to consolidate years of policy changes into a single updated manual.

“This is where we have not updated our codes since 2012, so this will bring all the updates into a new code and put everything in together, move the personnel policies out into a personnel manual and the fees into a fee schedule,” Carlisle said. “So, we’ve been working on this for a couple of years now.”

The board approved the first reading of the ordinance to adopt the updated municipal codes. It also moves the town’s personnel policy and fee schedule into separate documents, making updates and changes easier.

Council also approved the second reading of an amendment to the zoning ordinance regarding setbacks in R3 super high-density district areas.
