The White County Warriorettes defeated Covington 69-49 Wednesday night to advance to the Class 3A State Semifinals.
After falling 8-0 down in the first quarter, White County rallied to outscore Covington 14-2 in the final four minutes of the quarter. The Warriorettes would never trail after that, pushing their lead to 20 early on in the third quarter opening on a 16-2 run. White County held Covington to a field goal percentage of 17 percent in the final quarter.
Gracie Clark finished with a double-double, scoring 31 points and collecting 11 rebounds. The 31 points led all players. Bella Winningham led all players with 13 rebounds. Lakelyn Grasty scored 14 points, while Kylie Norris added ten off the bench.
The win marks the first in the state tournament for White County in 30 years. The Warriorettes will play in the state semifinals Friday at 2:15 pm against Cocke County. Coverage of the Class 3A state semifinal can be heard on 106-9 Kicks Country.
