Blue Devils Soccer, Lambert Leaning On Chemistry, Communication

The Jackson County Blue Devils boys soccer team is still searching for consistency early in the season, but for senior Ryan Lambert, the foundation for success is already there.

“The first game we’ve been good, and then, we’ve been a little off,” Lambert said. “We’re trying to get that back. We need to talk more. We’re not communicating as much as we need to, but overall we’re playing pretty good, we’re playing good defense. We just need to get back into things.”

Jackson County has remained competitive in recent seasons, including a district title run. Lambert said this year’s group has what it takes to take another step forward.

A multi-year varsity player, Lambert has grown up alongside much of the Blue Devils’ core. Lambert said that chemistry separates this team.

Lambert has played with many of his teammates since he was eight years old, building a level of chemistry that extends far beyond the field.

“It means everything,” Lambert said. “Just to know you’ve been out there with someone that many years and you have the chemistry we have. We hang out outside of school too, so we’re all really good friends.”

That connection has translated into strong defensive play, even as the team works through early inconsistencies. Lambert said that communication remains the biggest area for improvement. Lambert said the Blue Devils are one step closer to becoming the first team in program history to win a district championship, a goal fueled by both experience and exposure to tough competition.

“It’s a really fun experience,” Lambert said. “We’re playing pretty good teams, so it’s good to get that kind of competition in and watch other teams and learn from them.”

When things do not go according to plan, Lambert said the team leans on its chemistry to regroup, often making adjustments together at halftime while keeping energy levels high.

With a senior leader guiding a tight-knit group, the Blue Devils are focused on turning potential into results as the season progresses.
