CRMC CEO Receives “Very Solid” Evaluation From Trustees

Cookeville Regional CEO Buffy Key received what was described as “very solid” results from her annual evaluation conducted by the Board of Trustees.

Attorney Dan Rader conducted the evaluation process and revealed that Key received an overall score of 4.22 out of five. Dan Rader said trustees evaluated Key on 150 different criteria and highlighted that Key scored a 4.78 on her personal quality evaluation, a 4.31 on judgment and sensitivity, and 4.48 for community relations and political effectiveness. Chairman Danny Rader said the evaluation reflects the hard work Key has put in over the past year.

“The community relations, the political relations, I know Mayor Wheaton can attest to that more than I can, but I know that your relationship with the City Council is something that’s been really strong during your tenure, and it’s very important to the success of CRMC, and I appreciate it,” Rader said.

Danny Rader said Key has done a world of outreach beyond the walls of CRMC. Danny Rader said those efforts help advocate for CRMC’s mission.

“With the Tennessee Hospital Association and the American Hospital Association as well as with our legislators and other groups, to try and promote the hospital and to promote legislative events that support the hospital and to support our mission,” Danny Rader said. “So I think that evaluation reflects all of that significant effort.”

Key said the evaluation reflects the work of the entire organization.

“Healthcare is a turbulent industry right now across the country, and it takes all of us, and that includes our board members, all of our senior leadership team, and more frankly, all 2600 staff that we have,” Key said. “I can’t say enough about how important it is that we all keep our eye on the prize, and that is taking care of our patients and their families and continuing this mission as we go forward. So thank you all.”

Dan Rader said each evaluation was done privately and compiled into an average score for each criteria.

The board unanimously approved the evaluation, expressing appreciation for Key’s leadership and the continued work of hospital staff.
