The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office investigating after a group of hikers discovered a partially decomposed body near Monterey Sunday.
Deputies and investigators responded to the eastern end of the county. The department is treating the area as a crime scene.
“Our Investigators are diligently looking back at previous missing persons cases from the past weeks and months from this county and the entire state, as well as exploring any and all other avenues that can lead to the identification of this person,” Sheriff Eddie Farris said.
The body partially decomposed when the group of hikers found it.
