Authorities identified skeletal remains found in the DeRossett community of White County as Michael Andrew Feustel of Crossville.
District Attorney General Bryant C. Dunaway said in a press release that the remains were discovered in a wooded area along Crossville Highway near Bon Air on April 5. The investigation began after a local resident found a human skull and contacted the White County Sheriff’s Office for assistance.
“We pray that the family of Mr. Feustel will have some peace that their family member has been found. Please keep them in your prayers for their loss,” Dunaway said in a press release.
The press release said the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation assisted the White County Sheriff’s Office in searching the area and recovering multiple bones. The remains were subsequently transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
The press release said the identification process included the Sparta Police, White County EMS, and Crossville Police Department.
The press release said Feustel was last heard from on June 22, 2023. His family reported seeing him get into a car and drive toward West Tennessee prior to his disappearance.
