Overton County Commission appointed newly elected County Executive Austin Dodson to serve as chairman of the legislative body during its first meeting Monday night.
Dodson said the administration intends to prioritize the financial health of the county as the new government begins its term. Dodson said the office will focus on maintaining accountability for all public funds.
“We have a renewed interest and a new government in Overton County that’s going to work for the people every single day,” Dodson said, “We’re going to make sure through the county executive’s office and through this county commission that we’re spending every dollar wisely, that way we are investing into the future of Overton County.”
The commission also selected Darwin Clark to serve as chairman pro tempore following a nomination by Donna Savage. Dodson said the leadership votes were unanimous among the 14 commissioners present for the session.
“I campaigned that I’m going to provide leadership again for Overton County, be transparent and accountable for every dollar that flows through my office,” Dodson said.
