Jackson County businesses will have access to a new $2 million state funding pool designed to support rural economic growth.
Mayor Brian Lee told Commissioners Monday night the program gives rural employers another potential source of state assistance.
“It’s a new grant that the state Labor and Workforce Development’s put out for businesses, specifically rural businesses, to apply for and it’s a $2 million fund, and so that’s really the information that we have right now concerning that,” Lee said.
Lee said the program will be a benefit to local employers.
In other business, the board appointed Tabitha Lewis as a judicial commissioner for a four-year term. Commissioners passed a resolution honoring Becky Williams for 35 years of service upon her retirement.
