A year-long investigation into a drug trafficking organization with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel resulted in federal charges for 24 individuals and the seizure of hundreds of kilograms of narcotics across Middle Tennessee and Putnam County.
Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris said the investigation began in 2025 after the office was made aware of a potential organization connected to a Mexican cartel.
Farris said the operation involved the Nashville Homeland Security Task Force and the FBI executing a search warrant on Rocky Point Road in Cookeville on Tuesday. Farris said Roger Dale Floyd was taken into federal custody.
Floyd faces charges of conspiracy to distribute narcotics and distribution of methamphetamine.
“I am extremely proud of the dedication and hard work our Narcotics Detective put into this investigation over the past year,” Farris said. “The amount arrests and amount of drugs seized prove what can be accomplished when local, state, federal law enforcement work together.”
Farris said the investigation revealed the organization trafficked illegal narcotics from Mexico into Putnam County while two of its leaders were incarcerated in Tennessee prisons. Law enforcement seized approximately 500 kilograms of methamphetamine, 20 kilograms of fentanyl, and 60 kilograms of cocaine throughout the Middle Tennessee region.
“We will continue working with our state and federal partners to keep dangerous drugs out of Putnam County,” Farris said.
Farris said the seizure also included more than $375,000 in cash, multiple firearms, and five vehicles.
