The Clay County Boys and Girls basketball teams are heading to the state tournament over the next two weeks.
Clay County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kevin Donaldson said it was a packed house Monday for the boy’s win over Cascade. Donaldson said the winning tradition for these programs create pride in Clay County.
“When it gets to be this time of the year in March and the state tournament starts, then we really get excited,” Donaldson said. “And this year, especially excited because both our boy’s team and our girl’s team will be going to the state tournament.”
Donaldson said the chamber is keeping its words of motivation simple, and that is, “Go Dogs!” This is a repeat trip by the boy’s team to the Class A State Tournament.
The Clay County High School girls (20-10) play Peabody on Wednesday. The Clay County High School boys (27-2) play Madison Magnet on March 17.
Both of the Bulldog teams will be playing at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro.
